A powerful drama about the psychological and emotional impact of war, an impressive testament to humanity under the direst of circumstances: in a grey zone at the heart of the conflict between Russian and Ukrainian forces.
January, 2022. Long-time neighbours, childhood enemies, and retired mine workers, Sergiich and Pashka live in a small village in the Donbass. Their windows and views of life look in the opposite directions, one to the east, the other - to the west. Their lives would be unremarkable were it not for the fact that they lead them at the heart of the Russo-Ukrainian war. They are neutral arbiters, frequently hosting members of one army or the other, each fully aware of what their neighbour is doing. But then a Russian sniper appears in the village, and the threat of a large offensive is looming. Every day brings the neighbours closer to the inevitable choice - adapt or resist.

This is a quiet statement about the absurdity and the risibility of war. Dmitro Moisejev

Born in 1983 in Ukraine, Moisiev holds a degree in Theatre, Film & TV from the Kyiv National University. He achieved international acclaim with his 2013 feature debut, Such Beautiful People. The renowned Ukrainian filmmaker is the founder of the production and distribution film company Yizhak Film LLC.
