Description:
The third screen adaptation of Finney's novel and Ferrara's first foray into large-budget filmmaking. A sci-fi thriller about the discovery that people working in a military base are being replaced by clones, Body Snatchers received its premiere at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival.
Steve Malone, a scientist with the Environmental Protection Agency, arrives on an assignment at Ft. Daly in Alabama with his wife Carol, their five-year old son and Steve's teenage daughter Marti. Marti is the first to notice that something is wrong with the personnel. Once-normal people, with the full range of human emotions and behaviour, have become silent, blank-eyed and expressionless. It turns out that they have been replaced by perfect physical imitations grown from plantlike pods. As her family and friends are attacked, Marty doesn't know who to trust.

"Ferrara, in a rare medium-budget excursion, shows he can make a smooth-looking, well-paced film, while his acute ear for character tensions deftly captures the untidy human emotions that the pods live without." (Kim Newman, Empire)
