Description:
Agnes Varda's self-portrait and her final film - an insightful look at a life in cinema. A showcase revisiting her extensive body of work and a reunion with Sandrine Bonnaire, leading actress in Vagabond.
In her last work, the mother of French nouvelle vague offers a behind-the-scenes tour of her creativity; using excerpts from her work to illustrate - more associatively than chronologically - her artistic visions and ideas. As a young woman, Varda set out to reinvent cinema. She was a cineaste always open to chance and to moments of documentary, even in fiction; who, with every new film, changed her narrative style. Despite switching to digital technology at the turn of the millennium, she continued to look at the world in her own, unconventional way.

"I remember after Cléo they proposed that I made another story about a singer being ill. After Le Bonheur they proposed I made another film about a threesome. Why would I make one film more if it's the same? What would be the point? /…/ I'm trying to move the relationship between people and art. Art should ring a bell in your own life. You should get involved. I don't want people to say it's great, I want people to say: 'It is for me.'" (Agnes Varda)
