Through the process of taking photographs of houses beside the passing train tracks and subsequent visits to their inhabitants a year later the artist presents a sentimental voyage into memories. This poetic documentary exploration emerging from traveling curiosity is a nostalgic contribution to a freezing of time made possible by the film camera. For a work that is perceptive to its medium while showing a slice of life in the Taiwanese countryside, the jury decided to award "Last Year When the Train Passed by" by Pang-Chuan Huang.

The strong fear of the ruling regime is known only to those who have experienced it. Using a child's naivety as a prism for observing an important historical situation, the author manages to convey this fear to the widest audience using precise dialogue and wit as well as persuasive acting. The special mention of the jury goes to "The Christmas Gift" by Bogdan Muresanu.

Referencing William Golding's Lord of the Flies and reminiscent at times of Apocalypse Now and Aguirre; Wrath of God, translated into a contemporary Colombian, guerrilla warfare context, the film works brilliantly as a portrayal of a descent into madness, a nightmarish vision of the blights of war combined with an outstanding ensemble performance and dizzying, sometimes surreal, cinematography. Unclassifiable, unpredictable, exuberant, utterly original and slightly crazy: Alejandro Landes's Monos left the FIPRESCI jury in no doubt that it fully merits the International Film Critics award.

Selecting from twenty-three feature films, the viewers voted for their favourite picture that received the DRAGON Award.

Among the twenty-three contestants, the film with the highest score, 4,64, was: Every Day a Good Day

The Art Cinema Network of Slovenia jury awards a film that bears a distinctive signature of its maker, an aesthetically sophisticated and unique, visually and sensually dynamic creation that is often daring in developing its themes and aesthetic, theatrical and, as a whole, utterly convincing. 

The action pulsates with the driving beats by composer Nicolas Jaar, propelling the movements of the main protagonist Ema and the development of her inner world. 

Some of the film’s greatest merits are the outstanding performance by the leading actress Mariana Di Girolamo and the thematically coherent screenplay by Guillermo Calderón and Alejandro Moreno that in developing the central theme allows space for humour and unexpected turns. The end result is an ecstatic cinematic journey that we most highly recommend.

The Kinotrip Young Yury Award goes to a film that agitated us with its social sensitivity and intense social criticism and touched us with its humaneness. It examines the problems that numerous families are confronting today and that we, the young people, will tomorrow encounter on the labour market if exploitation is not struggled against. The award goes to a film with an urgent message that demands serious attention – Sorry We Missed You.
