A story of passion, lust and jealousy revolving around a gay couple and a young woman embroiled in a love triangle. Director Ira Sachs' perspective is that of an unobtrusive observer who senses the protagonists' feelings before they even experience them themselves.

On the final day of his shoot in Paris, German filmmaker Tomas is visibly tense. At the wrap party, Tomas falls first into the arms of his British husband Martin, but then meets a young primary school teacher, Agathe. A dance develops into a flirtation and then into a passionate night together. The next morning, Tomas proudly tells Martin that he has slept with a woman. As this one-night stand grows into something more, the relationship between the two men begins to change. A tale of relationships that is marked by passion, jealousy and narcissism unfolds in which each protagonist shows scant sensitivity for the needs of the others.

"I always feel that my films are somehow exposing and looking at and grappling with some things that I question about myself. Sometimes that's the very personal ways I've acted or things that I've done or experiences I've had. Sometimes it's on the scale of my position of where I exist in the world-as the person I am with the advantages I have, the skin color I have, the masculinity I have, the job that I have. In this film, I am not Tomas, but I am very intimately connected to him as a man who, on some level, expects to have everything." (Ira Sachs)
